The 5 Must-See Events in Manchester This Summer - Victoria Riverside

Summer is upon us, and with it comes all of the fun, cool summer events in Manchester!

This year, without restrictions, we can finally enjoy the fantastic programme of events and amazing attractions that the city has to offer. Everything feels better with a ray of sunshine!

We’re spoilt for choice, but we thought we’d share 5 events that we’re excited about this year.

    1. Manchester Pride

    When: 26-29 August

Where: Manchester Gay Village, Canal Street

Cost: £19.00 per ticket, £35.00 weekend pass

A must-see event, Pride is set to top this year’s best summer events in Manchester.

Manchester is renowned for its inclusivity and that’s why Pride is a world-leading LGBTQ+ event.

There are six key themes that this event focuses on: equality, arts and culture, community, party, activism, youth, and family.

Some events to look forward to, apart from the incredible celebrity-studded parade, are the hugely popular Gay Village Party, Superbia Weekend and the closing Candlelit Vigil gathering in Sackville Gardens in memorial of those lost to HIV, and those facing LGBTQ+ persecution globally.

    2. West x Bloc2Bloc Presents: Day Fest at Antwerp Mansion

    When: 20th August, 2pm – 10.20pm

    Where: Antwerp Mansion

Cost: £5/10/15 (Additional fees may apply)

For lovers of rave culture, this is definitely set to be one of the most exciting summer events in Manchester.

‘Day Fest’ is  a rave culture themed art and music event held at Antwerp Mansion!

You’re in for over 12 hours of music blasting through multiple sound systems, and if you stick around for the night you’ll be treated to 50+ exhibiting artists and performers.

There’ll be a large art exhibition curated by West Art Collective, performance art, a bouncy castle ball pit, pop up stalls, a bonfire, and music takeover by Bloc2Bloc plus a special guest.

As if all that weren’t enough, there’s a private afterparty, a barbecue and a West pop up shop including merchandising and artwork sale from the collective members, amongst other items.

    Pretty amazing, right?!

    3. Manchester 360: Sasha at Manchester Cathedral

Party in a medieval church with one of the most talented DJs in the electronic scene,  and hit the dance floor surrounded by awesome architecture!

    4. Alcotraz

    When: 21st July onwards

Where: Alcotraz Penitentiary, 1A Watson Street

    Cost: £30.99 – £36.99

If you like cocktails and immersive experience events then you’re going to have a blast at Alcotraz!

Alcotraz: Cell Block Three-Four is a covert speakeasy prison and the challenge for you is to successfully smuggle in liquor without the prison warden noticing. Get the contraband alcohol into the hands of the longest-serving prison inmates who’ll make cocktails for you and your friends.

A notorious bootlegger gives you instructions and you enter an exciting world of mischief, with crooked prison guards on hand to help you- just don’t get caught!

The ingredients you smuggle in make up the cocktails. Your contraband liquor will be combined with liqueurs, bitters and homemade syrups to make bespoke cocktails, so there’s no one set cocktail menu!

Get stuck into the epic atmosphere with orange jumpsuits,  real metallic cells and fun-loving friends!

    5. Craft Beer Tour

    When: Frequently (see webpage)

    Where: International House, Mosley Street

    Cost: £30 per person

What better way to spend a sunny summer’s day in Manchester than with a craft beer adventure?!

On this guided tour, you’ll sample the best local produce on offer, and visit 4 microbreweries and craft beer houses.

You try ten craft beers on the tour (around 1/3 pints each), and a resident expert gives you a guided intro at each venue.

Uncover some hidden gems of Manchester in this 3-and-a-half-hour tour with super friendly tour guides. Private group tours, stag and hen parties, and corporate events are an option, and there are gift vouchers available – the perfect gift for a craft beer-loving friend!

Perhaps best of all,  proceeds from every ticket sold go to Big Change Manchester, helping tackle homelessness in Manchester.
