The Top 10 Places for Brunch in Manchester - Victoria Riverside

Whether it be a lazy Sunday recovering from the previous night’s antics, or a mid-week catch up with friends, there aren’t many people who don’t love a good brunch.

There is a multitude of venues springing up that serve brunch in Manchester city centre, and perhaps the choice might seem a little overwhelming.

That’s why we’ve put together a list of some of our favourite places to grab some delicious late-morning food. Read on to take your pick…

    1. Menagerie, Spinningfields

Menagerie is one of the most famous places to have brunch in Manchester city centre, after having appeared on the Real Housewives of Cheshire

Once you’re inside, you won’t be able to resist the temptation to take some snaps for your Instagram account, as your eyes will be feasting on the stunning decor just as much as your belly on the delicious food.

We’re talking birdcage booth-seating, floral and neon murals, and a show-stopping catwalk right in the centre of the venue.

For brunch, you can order pancakes, banoffee waffles, and eggs on grilled sourdough, among lots of other classic brunch dishes.

Oh, and did we mention that it’s bottomless?

    2. Cocoa Cabana

Set in Ancoats, Cocoa Cabana is the perfect place to enjoy a chilled-out brunch in Manchester city centre.

Get your hands on various combinations of toast toppings, breakfast sandwiches, baguettes, wraps and lots more options including vegan or a meaty full English, potato cakes, and avo on toast, all with a bottomless option.

If you’re looking for a tipple, there are chocolate-themed cocktails and classic martinis.

What’s more, the lavish interiors are also something to write home about, with its signature pink mood lighting illuminating an endless selection of colourful cakes and artisan chocolates for dessert.

    3. The Ivy

Another of the fancy Spinningfields places for brunch in Manchester city centre – The Ivy!

It’s an Intagrammer’s dream thanks to its decor, multiple floors, and ‘enchanting oasis’ themed rooftop terrace.

Think plush velvets, bright colours and lots of plants and fire pits.

Brunch is available at weekends, and on the menu are yummy dishes such as Eggs Benedict, pan-fried salmon, and buttermilk pancakes. Delicious.

    4. Ezra & Gil

Set in the hip Northern Quarter, Ezra and Gil offers a hearty all-day brunch menu (perfect for late starters!), and they love to serve up breakfast classics.

Choose from poached eggs to beans and sausage (veggie options available), full breakfasts and even lemon cheesecake French toast if you’re feeling fancy.

    5. Trove Ancoats

Mouthwatering food and cool decor are the order of the day at Trove, one of the hippest places to get brunch in Manchester city centre.

All the usual breakfast staples are up for grabs, but with an extra twist on the ingredients. The sausages aren’t any old bog-standard sausages, they  are spicy merguez sausages;  the french toast is made with croissant loaf and poached rhubarb; the eggs royale is served with tea-smoked trout. And for just an extra £5, you get a Bloody Mary thrown in.

    6. Mackie Mayor

Fun fact: this place is named after Ivie Mackie, the mayor who opened it when it was a meat market in 1856.

Nowadays this bustling food market serves up a selection of choice breakfast staples.

At Tender Cow, try the high-quality sausage sandwiches, or a confit duck leg waffle from Rotisserie.

Wake up with gorgeously fluffy pastries and delicious flat whites from Wolf House Coffee, get hold of a table and spend the morning chilling and people-watching.

    7. Federal

This place promises ‘the city’s sunniest welcome’, and it actually delivers!

Everything here is made on the premises using the freshest, quality ingredients.

One impressive thing about Federal is that almost all of the ingredients are sourced from independent local suppliers.

You can choose from delightful classics such as Eggs Benedict, French Toast, or check out the Smashed Avocado and Poached Eggs, among many, many other options!

Not only is the food here ideal for a filling brunch in Manchester city centre, but the service here is fantastic too.

There are a few options locations-wise, as Federal has two branches, one in Deansgate and the other in the Northern Quarter, and they even have a convenient coffee cart in Altrincham Market!

    8. Moose Coffee

Just around the corner centrally-located Market Street, Moose offers an escape from the frantic pace of city life.

This American-style restaurant boasts an extensive menu, so you’ll never be short of options here.

No matter what you choose to eat, you simply can’t go wrong, as all of the dishes are to die for.

We highly recommend the fluffy pancakes!

    9. GRUB Bottomless Brunch

If you’ve never been to GRUB before, what are you waiting for? It’s one of the best places to sample different types of food in Manchester, thanks to its set up of international food traders.

That makes it one of the most interesting and varied options for brunch in Manchester city centre, and there’s also free-flowing booze for 90 minutes on Saturday mornings, alongside award-winning street eats.

    10. Gorilla

You might already know Gorilla as a trendy bar and nightclub nestled amongst Whitworth Street’s Victorian railway arches, but did you know they also serve up food and drink during the day?

The full English breakfast is a firm favourite among customers who keep coming back for more. There’s even a ‘royal’ version of the full English for people who’ve got a king-sized appetite! It even comes with a Bloody Mary or espresso martini on the side.

All of these venues are not too far from our Victoria Riverside apartments, so you’ll be spoilt for choice when choosing a brunch destination.
